MYTHICAL PROPERTIES

Nothing says strength and adaptability quite like the mountain goat. Throughout stories, these guys are associated with the sky and the mountains. In astrology, mountain goats are symbols of the Capricorn zodiac, often attributed to perseverance and spiritual elevation. Speaking of elevation, mountain goats are also synonymous with high alpine environments. The European myth of the Dahu is one told in these vertical regions as a creature who adapted so much to its sloped habitat, two of its legs are shorter than the others!

Paired with the goat on this design are another high alpine symbol: huckleberries. Known as well for their adaptability in harsh climates (and food for a hungry goat here and there), huckleberries grow where many other berries cannot. Huckleberries have been used as preserves and medicines for ages, and they've even added to the American lexicon. In the 19th century, the phrase "I'm your huckleberry" meant that you were the the best person for the job. Most attribute it to Doc Holliday, but there are no accounts of him actually saying it, outside movies and media.
